Is this email from Techspert legitimate?

You’ve received an email from Techspert asking you to take part in a compensated consultation or survey. Follow the steps below to quickly verify the legitimacy of this outreach:

1. Verify the email sender

The easiest way to check is to see the email address of the sender. Techspert sends emails from any of three verified email domains, which take the following format:

Emails may look like:

firstname.lastname@o.techspert.com

firstname.lastname@outreach.techspert.com

If your email came from an address in the format of the above, it’s legitimate.

2. Verify the links

In an email, we may include links for you to take what’s called a ‘screener’ - a short questionnaire where we check you have the required experience to participate in the research study. Links may also be included to our website or FAQ hub.

Here’s a list of verified URLs we may send you in an email:

  • expert.techspert.com - this is our platform for screening experts. The URL will be followed by a personalized string (a random combination of numbers and characters) that takes you directly to your unique screening page.
  • expert-profile.techspert.com - our expert portal, where experts like you can register
  • o.techspert.com - the service that sends our emails, Sendgrid, may convert hyperlinks to this format in an email
  • techspert.com - our website, which hosts our expert FAQs.

A link may look like

expert.techspert.com/123456ab-78cd-9e01-2fg3-h45i67jk891l

url1234.o.techspert.com/1a2b3c4d5e6f7g8h9i

techspert.com/faqs

If you’re worried about clicking a hyperlink, verify the URL against the criteria above. If it matches, you’re safe to click. You can also copy the link address and paste it into your browser.
